Digital frames have been around for a while now, but the Kodak PULSE offers a new twist. The PULSE allows you to easily receive and display photos from friends and family. The PULSE is email enabled, eliminating the need to transfer photos from computer to frame. Imagine how exciting it will be to come home and find out your PULSE has mail!

Photos can be sent from any computer or mobile phone. Travelers can send pictures while on the go and you can also link to photo albums on Facebook and Kodak Gallery sites.

Casio’s Solar Eco-Friendly Pathfinder Watch

For adventurers who try to maintain a green lifecycle, Casio has introduced a new digital watch in its Pathfinder collection. The PAG110C-3 is water resistant to 600 feet and features a digital compass, thermometer, altimeter and barometer. It has a stopwatch, five daily alarms and can display the time in 30 different worldwide cities. There’s also a moon phase calendar and tide graph. Best of all, this watch is solar powered.

Pinball of the Mind

At the recent CeBIT exhibit in Hanover, Germany, the Berlin Brain-Computer Interface (BBCI) group demonstrated the results of their research into brain control. The demonstration involved a user wearing an EEG that measured brainwaves. A computer interpreted signals from the brain in realtime used the signals to operate the pinball machine’s paddles. Bronze Wrecking Ball Lamp

This unique bronze lamp from Studio Job is styled after a crane and wrecking ball. Illumination comes from a handling light bulb as well as from small lights within the cab’s interior. This lamps and some other similar designs were commissioned by the Carpenter Workshop Gallery (CWG) in London, where they will be on display until May 20.

The CWG is a design-art gallery located in an old carpenter’s workshop. It showcases cutting edge contemporary design. Read more about on the CWG website.

The Rovio WiFi Roaming Robot

The Rovio WiFi Roaming Robot is a robotic webcam that will stream video and audio to any web-enabled browser in the world. This little robot’s camera, microphone and 2-way audio can be controlled from a distance, allowing you to control the Rovio’s movement and take pictures from thousands of miles away. New Skinput uses the Skin as a Touchscreen

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon and Microsoft Research have taken touchscreens to the next level. They’ve developed the prototype for a revolutionary new tecchnology that allows users to turn their hands and arms into touchscreens. The Skinput system uses a tiny projector in an armband to display interactive images on the user’s skin. The armband also houses sensors that detect taps on the skin. Popular Science magazine just made its 137-year archive available online, with no charge for browsing. PopSci.com, the official website for Popular Science, has partnered with Google to provide the full contents of each issue, including the original advertisements. The archive is a mind-blowing resource, showing how people in the past thought about the future. It’s fascinating to see which scientific predictions came true and which remained just dreams.

The Google interface to the archive includes a search box to let you search by topic. You can also see a hyperlinked Table of Contents for each issue and jump to articles that way. The archive can be accessed via an iPhone. Prepare to lose yourself for several hours browsing through the interesting articles and stunning retro illustrations.
